About Me
Hi! My name is Dong Woo Yoo, most people calls me Steven! 🦄
I am a Ph.D. Student, Interdisciplinary Engineering in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department at Northeastern University, Boston. I received M.S. from New York University and taught and research in the realm of Game Design and Extended Reality (Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, Mixed Reality) at multiple universities and colleges prior joining Northeastern SAIL. My research focus is on exploring novel methods, tools, and technologies to recognize user context-relevant user modeling in Extended Reality using biosensors like brainwaves (EEG), skin conductance (GSR/EDA), heart rate variability (HRV), and pupil responses, then apply those meaningful data to effectively train and teach people with complex machines in industrial settings. In addition to my research on user modeling and affective computing in Extended Reality, I have also been actively involved in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Game Design and Development, and Learning Science. Through these areas of study, I am keen to learn about how people interact with technology and how we can design systems that are both user-friendly and effective.
You can usually find me brewing a coffee and researching about art of coffee brewing as a hobby.
